Asbestos Safety Training

If asbestos has been identified or is presumed to be in a building it is the employer's responsibility to ensure that all employees who may come in contact with these materials are trained in accordance with applicable regulations.

BDN offers a full range of asbestos courses from awareness level through supervisory level. Our courses are conducted by State of Michigan approved instructors. Our Training Coordinator can assist you in determining what level of training your employees need.

Instructor: Brad Shook

Brad Shook is the primary instructor for approximately thirty BDN safety courses relating to asbestos, lead, hazardous materials management and OSHA compliance. He will also consult as a senior industrial hygienist.

Shook brings to BDN nine years and 4000+ hours of classroom training leadership in a variety of OSHA safety courses and as a core instructor for the State of Mich. Asbestos Program. He is also a geologist with 16 years of field experience, 14 as a laboratory director. His areas of expertise include extensive survey, inspection, investigative and audit experience backed by lab analytical skills & accreditations.

Shook earned a Bachelor of Science in Geology from Western Michigan University as well as a number of certifications from the McCrone Research Institute, State of Michigan, National Institute of Safety and Health, Indoor Air Quality Assoc., U.S. Dept. of Labor, and Occupational Health & Safety Administration. He is a Michigan native and resides in Portage.

RETURN POLICY: BDN reserves the right to cancel or reschedule courses. In the event BDN finds it necessary to cancel a course, full refunds will be made if the student is unable to reschedule. Cancellations on the client/student’s part are subject to a $40 charge unless 48-hour notice is given. Requests for refunds may be made by telephone, but must be confirmed in writing to begin the actual refund through the accounting department. Class fees may be transferred to another participant or to an alternate course date without penalty; if a student misses a previously scheduled class, BDN asks that any refund or rescheduling be arranged within 24 hours of the missed first class day. The fees are assumed to be applied to a future class until a written refund request is received. At this point the refund would reflect a $40 charge.
